Ep. 6: Is the Glasstaff Half Empty or Half Full? or Walking on Broken Glasstaff.

Image
This is a short one but brings us up to date as of March 15th, 2020.  Covid -19 is a thing and most of the world is now self-quarantining. What better time to kick out some D&D than during a quarantine! We also take time to remember the gravity of our situation. “ Increase, O God, the spirit of neighborliness among us, that in peril we may  uphold one another , in suffering  tend to one another , and in homelessness, loneliness, or exile  befriend one another . Grant us brave and enduring hearts that we may  strengthen one another , until the disciplines and testing of these days are ended, and you again give peace in our time; through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Coming to a common room in the west side of the basement, the party runs across the last four Redbrands and quickly dispatch them. The party then enters Glasstaff's workshop. Dinkelburg is able to read some of the papers and it is clear that Glasstaff had been trying to find as much information as possible about Wave

Ep. 5 - Unexpected Friends

It has been a few days and the narrator has been busy with work and other things so this will be somewhat abbreviated.  It is also a few shorter sessions merged together. However, something is better than nothing so here goes. The party, led by Pip and Carp, the young boys who knew where the secret entrance to the Redbrand Hideout, found the entrance and told Pip and Carp that they needed to go on home to stay safe.  (Yeah, right)  They entered the cave and it led to the basement of the old Tresendar Manor.  Almost immediately, they could hear - well not really hear; the voice was just placed in their head - a voice whispering that it was hungry.  It was a nothic , guarding the entrance.  Rather than fighting the beast, the party made a deal with the nothic that they would bring him food.  He seemed appeased for the moment and so they took stock of their surroundings. They were at the southernmost entrance to the basement and saw a crevasse leading to the north with a few ricke

Ep. 4 - A New Hope; The Opening Crawl

What Quildhotar saw... were six goblins arguing around a wood fire and in the back corner of the room was a very weak Sildar Hallwinter.  He'd been captured by the goblin ambush.  His armor and Gundren Rockseeker were nowhere to be found. The party, growing in strength, (and with no shortage of luck) made quick work of the six goblins. It was at this point that the adventure was put on hold due to some real life events.  We took a break for a few days and eventually rejoined our heroes.  They quickly stabilized Sildar and spent a few moments allowing him to tell them what he knew about the rest of the cave.  Using his description to make a mental map, the party marched into the tunnel and toward the sound of a crashing waterfall.  The goblin they'd seen earlier on the bridge saw them and retreated into the next room.  That was a tall room with a waterfall filling some pools of water.  There were also five goblins who were ready and waiting for the Homies. The fight was intens

Ep. 3 - I Can't Quite Put My Finger On It...

When last we left our heroes, they were back at the Green Dragon in the city of Neverwinter taking a well deserved rest. Bess had been rescued and and was back home with her family.  The party was planning their journey to Phandalin. They'd agreed to escort a cart of supplies for their good friend Gundren Rockseeker, who had promised them each 10 gold pieces for what they thought should be a fairly simple task. Unfortunately for them, the task did not turn out to be as simple as they'd planned. It rarely does. About two thirds of the way to Phandalin, the woods ahead narrowed and came in close to the path. There were two dead horses who had been there for about two days, judging by the flies and the bloat. They had been shot with black fletched arrows - a sure sign of goblin mischief. The party carefully went closer to investigate and was not surprised when they were ambushed by goblins. Two jumped out of the woods and two stayed hidden in the woods, keeping a steady ba

Ep. 2 - Ding Dong the Bugbear's Dead

When last we left our heroes, they had just entered the offering room of the temple and defeated six goblins.  They still heard the chanting but it seemed to only be one voice.  They briefly took a look around the room. The goblins had a small pouch of silver coins that the party wasted no time in distributing amongst themselves.  There was a brazier in the middle of the room.  On all the walls there were carvings of gallant knights fighting chaotic monsters, orcs, and goblins.  On one wall there was a carving of a particularly valiant looking knight and under it was the inscription "Oath of the Rhovanian Order - I, Eldacar, swear the Rhovanian Oath; To serve law, battle chaos, and strive to keep the Rhovanian lore secret."  It appeared that centuries ago this was a memorial temple to the Knights of the Rhovanian Order.  The party was in the offering room where the faithful would offer incense to the goddess the Knights of Rhovanian served.  After a very brief discussion, fea

Ep. 1 - And so it begins...

The late afternoon sun was setting and the sounds of merriment began to fill the Green Dragon Inn & Tavern.  The sweet smell of pipe tobacco wafted in lazy clouds and the smell of newly tapped beer kegs massaged the nostrils. Our adventurers sat at the table together discussing the recent business proposition from their old friend, the dwarf Gundren Rockseeker.   Gundren was clearly excited and a more than a little secretive about the reasons for the trip, saying only that he had found “something big” and that he’d pay ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen’s Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin.  He then set out ahead on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Hallwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to “take care of business.” Escorting one cart from Neverwinter to Phandalin.  Seems easy enough. The party is made up of old friends.  There is Tid (Courtney), the half-orc paladin with a short temper and a long memory.  Lianala (Linda),
